Making a big step for American-made Toyota models, and all American-made cars for that matter, Toyota is planning to begin exporting Kentucky-made Toyota Camrys to South Korea. Last month, Toyota began sending Indiana-made Toyota Siennas to South Korea and it came to be one of the biggest increases to U.S.-exported cars in the company's history.
With the company planning to up the ante with American-made Toyota Camrys, this creates room for future growth at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky as well as showcases the skill of more hardworking Americans to the global market. Although Toyota hasn't confirmed that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky will be employing more workers, it is still the single largest manufacturing facility for Toyota outside of Japan and an increase of 6,000 extra units sent overseas per year.
Yoshimi Inaba, president and COO of Toyota Motor North America, Inc. says "The export of thousands of Camry vehicles to South Korea is an important development that builds on the great work of our talented U.S. team members as well as our extensive investments across North America to help maintain a strong, stable base of U.S. jobs," ? "We look forward to other opportunities to continue growing exports from our American operations."1
