The 2018 Toyota Camry Earns an IIHS 2017 Top Safety Pick+ Rating…

…Thanks to Now-Standard Toyota Safety Sense™ P

Earning a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is no small feat, but the 2018 Toyota Camry picked up that title recently thanks to now-standard Toyota Safety Sense™ P and its front-crash prevention system, as well as optional curve-adaptive headlights.

The criteria for earning a covetable 2017 Top Safety Pick+ award is rather strict—a vehicle must rate as "good" in all five crashworthiness tests (small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints) as well as an advanced or 'superior' rating in front-crash prevention, and finally, an 'acceptable' or 'good' rating for headlights. For midsize cars who met that criteria, the IIHS noted that the 2018 Camry stands at the head of the pack.

What's Included in Toyota Safety Sense™ P?

Toyota doesn't believe in compromising on safety, which is why the technologically advanced Toyota Safety Sense™ is now standard on the 2018 Toyota Camry (as well as the rest of the Toyota lineup). Here's what's included in the 2018 Camry's standard Toyota Safety Sense™ P:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/ PD)
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA)
  • Automatic High Beams (AHB)
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
